CBC Short Track ONYX
Boots in sizes 30–32 feature reduced blade spacing and require the use of an adjustable space blade. Standard 6.5-inch blades will not fit these sizes. For recommendations, please contact us at sales@carpenterbootcompany.com.
The CBC Short Track ONYX is a high-value, entry-level short track boot purpose-built for growing children and beginner to recreational skaters in sizes 42 and below.
Designed for those new to the sport — or parents seeking a reliable, comfortable boot that supports skill development — the ONYX offers excellent comfort and performance without a premium price tag.
Note: The ONYX is intentionally softer and less supportive than our Element and Genesis models. Skaters training three or more times per week, or those requiring size 43 and above, should consider our ELEMENT or GENESIS boots for higher performance and increased ankle support.
Fit Philosophy
At CBC, we offer two proprietary last types: Standard and Wide. Our high-performance boots are intentionally narrower than most competitors to allow greater lean angle in corners and reduced risk of ice contact.
The ONYX is built exclusively on our Wide Last, providing a more generous, comfort-oriented fit suitable for a wide range of foot shapes.
What truly distinguishes the ONYX is its foundation: CBC’s World’s Best Fitting Last. Developed using data from over 10 years of custom speed skate foot scans, our lasts are engineered to address the most common foot characteristics and issues in speed skaters. This results in superior out-of-the-box fit, comfort, and performance compared to conventional production boots.
